Eliot Lawson and Lev Adamov met over 20 years ago at an international music festival in Geneva, Switzerland and both enrolled at the Rotterdam Conservatory that Fall. They have been friends and colleagues ever since. The original idea to form an unaccompanied violin duo came in the summer of 2008 at the International Music Academy in Dinant, Belgium, where they both taught violin.
For their New York debut in 2010, the Adamov/Lawson Violin Duo played on two of the most wonderful instruments: Lev played on a 1734 Stradivari and Eliot on a Guarneri Del Gesu of the same period. Ensuing highlights included tours of New York, Boston, and Forida in 2010 and 2014, as well as a tour of the Netherlands and Belgium in 2012.
Family life took priority for a number of years, but in 2021 the Adamov/Lawson Violin Duo returned to the stage with the program "Bartok Goes to School." Joined by well-known Flemish actor Stefaan Degand, this program combines the Bela Bartok Violin Duos with Hungarian folk tales. In the 2023-2024 season, the Adamov/Lawson Violin Duo will give recitals in Belgium and Portugal, as well as performing a program of violin duos with orchestra, which will include a world premiere commisioned by them. In 2023, Eliot and Lev also founded Antwerp Chamber Soloists - a group of soloists performing chamber and orchestral repertoire together on a highest level.
